Here are the current customs regulations regarding food imports from Japan to China. According to the latest Chinese customs rules, the importation of food, edible agricultural products, and feed from 10 prefectures in Japan is currently prohibited.

The 10 prefectures are: Fukushima, Gunma, Tochigi, Ibaraki, Miyagi, Niigata (excluding rice), Nagano, Saitama, Tokyo, and Chiba.

All parties must note that the source information of imported food, including the origin, processing raw material origin, and transportation routes, must be clearly and completely labeled. If a product is determined to originate from any of the aforementioned 10 counties, customs may legally order the goods to be returned or destroyed.

⚠️ There is another critical regulatory requirement: a comprehensive suspension of imports of aquatic products. In addition to the food control measures in the aforementioned 10 counties, according to the relevant regulations of the General Administration of Customs in 2023, all aquatic products originating from Japan will be fully suspended starting from August 24, 2023 (inclusive), including edible aquatic animals. This means that regardless of the region in Japan where the aquatic products are produced, they cannot currently be declared for entry into China.
